On your right, four lanes of I-40; four lanes of semi-trailers and drivers who, in the words of Charles
Kuralt, are traveling from coast to coast without seeing anything. The roar of tires at 70mph. On
your left, US Route 66. Few trucks. Lots of towns with stop lights, diners, and people willing to
spend time with visitors. And all at a pace rarely exceeding 55mph. Even though the view hardly differs
here between Interstate and original 2-lane, I'll take the two lanes to the left any day.
