Ornate, colourful, huge. Often, a smaller door, suitable for people, is cut into one of the two larger
ones, which are suitable for donkey carts, in case you hadn't figured it out for yourself. Beyond the
door, a corridor leading to a large courtyard ringed on three or four sides by dwelling, cooking and
storage space. Not so different in basic structure from the Han Chinese, but carried off in a distinctive
manner. And, typically, there'll be grape trellises over the courtyard, offering not just grapes for
making wine, raisins and for eating fresh, but also providing cool shade in the hot desert summers.
