An unusual sight here. Two tracks intersect at right angles with the station lying in the northwest
quadrant. It's probably safe to say that Route 66 slowly killed this train station in much the same
way I-55 quickly killed the Route 66 Main Streets of towns like Chenoa. 1926, the year Route 66 was
commissioned, represented the end of one era as much as 1986, when the final section of Interstate bypassed
Williams, represented the end of another.
