The grounds of the Grand Palace contain not only the winter home
of the King and other members of the Royal Family but also one of the most important wats in Thailand.
One of the buildings contains the most significant Buddha image in Thailand, the Emeral Buddha, which
is made not of emerald but rather a single piece of jade. The image is about the size of a 5 year-old
child.
